Tools
I am a big proponent of buying used tools and then upgrading as you find necessary. It’s how I started in woodworking and over the years have upgraded the tools I use most. If you only use a tool once a year, you don’t need a Makita or DeWalt tool!
But if you want to buy new, these are tools I recommend.
- Delta 10″ Contractor Saw (Lowe’s)
For the money, you can’t beat it - Ridgid tools from Home Depot are good tools and they come with a lifetime warranty for most of their power tools. This also includes batteries if they die on you.
- Ryobi tools from are a good starter brand too. Very cheap, but you’re not a contractor using it 8 hours a day. Very good way to get a multi-tool starter kit.
- DeWalt drill bit set with brad point tips – I’ve had this set for 20 years. It’s nice to have a full set like this then just replace the ones you break or get dull.
- Screwdriver bit set – a cheap set like this will get you through 90% of your drilling needs.
